Jobs for NSW is supporting and expanding the startup ecosystem across NSW through grants and support for high-potential new businesses.
How Jobs for NSW helps startups
NSW is Australia’s startup capital, with nearly half of our nation’s startup businesses calling Sydney home. Jobs for NSW is focused on building a strong and supportive ecosystem for startups. We want to help them thrive and prosper, and become the job-creating power-houses of the future.
To achieve this, we’re offering grants to promising startups, as well as support for incubators that help NSW startups find their feet.
Grants for promising startups
Two types of grants are available:
- Minimum Viable Product Grants are for promising startups that are not yet generating revenue. Grants of up to $25,000 are available to help startups across all industry sectors to progress from proof of concept to a minimum viable product stage of development.
- Building Partnership Grants are for growing startups and SMEs that are generating revenue. Grants of up to $100,000 are available to fund a consortium project that enables the business to establish key accounts or achieve strategic growth.
The Sydney Startup Hub
Located at 11-31 York Street in Sydney’s CBD, the Sydney Startup Hub will bring together leading incubators and accelerators in a high-density startup cluster. With more than 17,000sqm of space it will accommodate 2,500 people over 11 floors.
We have three main objectives for the Sydney Startup Hub:
- create jobs
- increase the diversity of the NSW startup community, with more startups from regional NSW and non-ICT industries
- grow the size and strength of the Sydney ecosystem.

Incubators and accelerators
Incubators and accelerators are important to the success of startups, as they provide business mentorship and support to new businesses wanting to expand.
We want to partner with incubators and accelerators to help build our state’s capacity to nurture high-potential startups. We offer a range of support such as funding, mentoring and networking opportunities to build skills and access experienced talent.
